Few people remember that Summit Series hero Paul Henderson was back playing the Soviet National team in 1974 as a member of the all-WHA Team Canada. Less still actually remember the series, from which many of the combatants emerged covered in blood rather than glory. Here it is now, unseen since its original broadcast, seven of the eight battles featuring the legendary Soviet team replete with the still mesmerizing talents of Tretiak, Kharlamov, Yakushev, Maltsev et al. The WHA squad featured a couple of '72 vets in Henderson and Frank Mahovlich but was inspired by the only international appearance of the Howe family. That would be Gordie and his sons Mark and Marty. Lest we forget Bobby Hull, Gerry Cheevers, JC Tremblay and a host of future and past NHL greats putting up a brave fight against the Soviets who edged Team Canada in a series which, like the WHA itself, was fraught with off-ice controversy, brilliant offensive play and hard-hitting action. So here is a sizable chunk of hockey history, four games in Canada, three in Moscow, a little worn around the edges, but packed with some of the greatest highlights ever committed to DVD. Produced with the cooperation of the Hockey Hall of Fame with new footage from their archives. 4 DVD Set 10,000 Numbered Limited Edition Sets Special Features: commentary track with hockey legends Gordie Howe and Frank Mahovlich, documentary including rare footage
